In this practical training workshop you will learn how to collect, prepare and analyse faecal samples using a microscope, identify common parasite eggs, and interpret results to make better worm management decisions. This course is ideal for goat, sheep, alpaca, cattle and small farm owners, as well as anyone wanting to learn how to perform their own faecal egg counts at home. Faecal egg counting is widely used to measure parasite burden and guide treatment decisions, helping producers avoid unnecessary worming and slow the development of resistance to drench chemicals. This course puts you on the front foot when it comes to knowing where your herd sits. Little Things Farm offers two options in undertaking this course. Morning Session : Theory & Demonstration $55 per person – includes morning tea Perfect for people who want to understand the process without bringing equipment. Includes: *Full theory session & booklet *Live microscope demonstration *Parasite identification overview *Sampling and management strategies Full Day: Theory + Practical $120 per person – includes morning tea & lunch For those wanting hands-on experience performing their own fecal egg counts. Includes: *Morning theory session *Afternoon practical workshop *Hands-on microscope use *Guided sample preparation and counting Participants are required to bring their own microscope for the practical session. Please wear clean closed in shoes, clothes that can get dirty but have not been touching other livestock since washed, a hat, water bottle and a keen to learn attitude. Max 8 Participants
